One of the Last Few Baby Posts

Time really flies. We are now 36 weeks into pregginess and from next week on, the baby would be considered "mature" and is safe to be popped anytime. We've done the pre-registration procedures with the hospital, making it easier for us to check in to the delivery suite when I'm finally there with the labour pains.

Derod said we should really start packing our Full Battle Order aka FBO in army terms. I've got lists of things to bring and all but I dont suppose it will get me anywhere ready when the contractions strike. I imagine all the television dramas where the women will scream uncontrollably. Apparently, my colleague who just gave birth 3 months ago was so hysterical, the doctor and nurses have to keep calming her down, and she was so exhausted from screaming that they had to provide assisted birth ie vacuum.

Well, some bits and pieces of updates here for friends I've not seen in a long while, and you who are overseas:

- I've been given loads of stuff by friends and some items are not exactly in tip top condition. My mother has finally blurted out the reason she has been reluctant to let me use these items. "It's my 1st grandson and he's so poor thing", she exclaimed.

- Water retention has finally hit me. You know everyone has two protruding knuckle-like bones on the inside of the foot near the ankle? Mine are not visible anymore, and you can actually see the swell of the ankle. Yeah, my face is swelling too.

- I'm starting to be more cautious going down the steps - cant see the next step that clearly anymore.

- I'm supposed to count baby's movements everyday within the span of 12 hours, and mark the time of the 10th set of movements. With this little kiddo, i'm hitting it before 11am. Fyi, some people have problems hitting even 10 in 12 hours. Sometimes, he stretches the same spot so often and at such intensity that I feel sore on the inside.

- Then again, though active, this fella seems to be very cooperative. He chooses the timing of his acrobatic practises very well. He'll go wild at these times: just after I get on the transport in the morning, after lunch, immediately after I knock off from work, late at night when I'm on the couch watching tv/ reading/ doing some handiwork. He'll be very quiet and allow me moments of peace when: at work, at meals, I'm about to lie down to bed and while I'm asleep.

Well, lunch time's over. Back to work and more updates another day.
