Busy Holidays

The last couple of weeks seemed to have some anticipation hanging in the air, since a string of public holidays have been scheduled to take place. As a result, some phenomena took place:

- I'm supposed to work less, with May Day, Vesak Day, and the newly added Election Day. But as I have to ensure the same amount of work (oops! I meant more work, since we're preparing for some high profile events) gets done, I end up working more!
- But yet, there's this holiday mood in the air, plus school's closed and we dont have to spend 20 minutes queuing for lunch now, and the two colleagues who share my office are not around. Mood's everything you noe... ; p
- I feel soooo tired. You see, Joyce got married and I was chief ah yee. Woke up at 4 am to reach her place at 5 am and didnt sleep till 2.30am the following morning. Short of 1.5 hours, I'd have had a 24-hour day! Then, no chance to catch up on sleep. My mum said I didnt even wake up this early for my own wedding. How right!

And there's those increased number of family gatherings with all these holidays, and food food food. How to diet?? Then everyone's conversation everywhere is about the elections, PAP, opposition... the country's hot topic, literally.

So well, what's the conclusion when we're anticipating another public holiday this week? Still look forward to it ; )

Happy Secretary's Week

The Department took the whole admin gang out for lunch to celebrate Secretary's Week although we are not secretaries (officially). But a free meal is always welcomed. Similar to last year, we had to look for a place that our muslim colleagues can eat at too. Rice table at the International Building, yep, our 2nd trip there.

I was caught at a meeting with one of the Deputy Heads, where external parties including someone who drove down from JB were meeting on a building issue. So when the two of us got there, all the seats have been taken up, and I was sandwiched between the HoD and Deputy Head. They were trying to talk to and hear each other, so I ended up pretty much with surround sound system. Some cheeky colleagues from the computer suite caught me trying to catch up with their conversation, hence displaying the ping-pong syndrome (left-right-left-right).

Me um chio-ing at colleagues' cheeky stares.

The bosses discover! All smiles for the camera.

And the result of a heavy lunch? Me going to get some much-needed caffine shots now...

Am I Abnormal??

This week has whizzed by pretty fast, consisting mainly of cramps and meetings. I cant believe it's Friday. It doesn't even feel Friday. I've so much work to do, I think it won't even be done if I were to camp overnight in office ... and yet i'm writing on my blog here hahah.

Overcome with saturation from minute-writing, I took the test to check my level of abnormality. And here it is!

You Are 24% Abnormal
You are at low risk for being a psychopath. It is unlikely that you have no soul.
You are at medium risk for having a borderline personality. It is somewhat likely that you are a chaotic mess.
You are at low risk for having a narcissistic personality. It is unlikely that you are in love with your own reflection.
You are at low risk for having a social phobia. It is unlikely that you feel most comfortable in your mom's basement.
You are at medium risk for obsessive compulsive disorder. It is somewhat likely that you are addicted to hand sanitizer.

Yesterday

I forgot to post this yesterday...

Wednesday, 12 April 2006 was the 14th day of the first month in the Jewish calendar, the day where all Jews celebrate the Passover. Piggy was invited over to a friend's family's friend's family for a feast. The very sad thing, is that the celebration is but an annual affair, somewhat like our Chinese New Year, and the significance of Passover, is no longer a matter of concern.

The study of Leviticus 23 and Exodus 12 has brought me to look at God's plan, grace and these two scriptures very different. It is heart-wrenching that the beautiful plans He has are not understood by the very people he chose. Yet, He will bring everything into fulfillment simply because He is God.

On a separate note, I visited Dr. Leong, the dentist who did my braces, yesterday evening. He assured that the wisdom tooth I was worried about was ok. No decay, no damage to the bone. Phew. Thank God. But he suggests its removal since it's a nuisance, and a food trap; yes, I get pieces of food trapped there at every meal. Took an x-ray, a panoramic one, on a most impressive machine. Then walked back to the consultation room a couple of doors away and found Dr. Leong looking at my x-ray on the flatscreen monitor in the room! He informed that the tooth should be relatively easy to remove, good position, etc, and then the question came: do you want to do it today?

Gasp. 没有心理准备 lei... so I declined and said I'll make another appointment. Jitters, though I know it's gonna be quite painless and trauma-less...

Information

Unhappiness in relationships, according to Dr. Gary Chapman, is often due to the fact that we speak different love languages. Sometimes we don't understand our partner's requirements, or even our own. We all have a "love tank" that needs to be filled in order for us to express love to others, but there are different means by which our tank can be filled, and there are different ways that we can express love to others.
